We all started our lives with fairy tales. Tales wherein the protagonist, who epitomizes everything that is right, going through trials and tribulations while the evil has early victory. The evil unleashes the fears of our protagonist and our hero falls into it. That becomes the turning point. The hero faces those fears and with faithful aids and perseverance, emerges victorious vanquishing the evil. Happy ending....
Right from childhood, we are made to believe these are nothing but fairy tales.. Tales which have no meaning in life. Tales which are made to have a happy ending so that the readers are happy towards the end. Trials and tribulations of real life are much more harder and sometimes its hard to come in terms with ourselves after such falls. This is exactly where, all our logic and rationals are flawed.
Take the story of Cinderella.. In real life would a young girl, dare to dream to go to a prince's party if all she is subjected to every day since childhood is brutality and injustice? No.. The mind would be too numb to dream for a party let alone the one hosted by the prince of a land. That's why Cinderella is a fairy tale... Is it?? WRONG
Let's say, the Cinderella in real life is inflicted with lot of brutalities. In spite of her deplorable existence, she decides to dream. Not essentially a prince charming, but dream of having a meaningful life and escape from the deplorable condition she currently is in. This is DREAM and HOPE... The process of dreaming from such depths is called COURAGE.
Whenever, I feel low in life, I read a fairy tale. Tales wherein there are magic stones that takes you to beautiful lands of dragons and lions who talks about justice and equality. Fantasies.... I muse over them and realize, what the ever-gentle creatures of the fairy tale tells, was once told to me by my mother, by my teachers... At that point, it sounded plain. But from the depths of the misery I'm right now, those are the very gospels. The evil I'm facing is not real. They are figment of my imaginations which needs to be destroyed. For that I need courage, which again comes from the same depth of my heart from where fear emanated in the first place. Fear and courage, they are just two sides of the same coin. Only difference is that, while the former controls us, we control the latter.
Fairy tales are all about finding your strength. And yes... they hold a big meaning in everyday life....
